6 contributing factors to feeling “stuck”

  1. The Critical Voice For many individuals, one of the key factors to feeling stressed, overwhelmed, directionless and "stuck" in their life is intrusive self-criticism. At Zen Mind Body Therapies, Melissa teaches you how to choose the internal dialogue worth listening to and what to simply filter out and ignore.

2. Low Risk Tolerance

Most of us don’t realise how much we sacrifice in our desperate and often unrealistic pursuit of “safety” and “comfort”. Melissa will help you rethink risk and unlock the power of courage.

3. Intolerance for Discomfort

Learning and exploring different options to what we have become accustomed to isn’t always comfortable. If we cannot handle discomfort then we become avoidant. Sadly however, we simply cannot grow or develop in the comfort zone. At Zen Mind Body Therapies, Melissa will help you learn how to feel the fear and do it anyway to achieve personal growth and work towards becoming the best version of yourself that you can be. 4. Unrealistic Self-Assessment

Positive thinking, self-love, blind self-belief and "manifesting" a goal for your future are only stepping stones. If your confidence exceeds your skills, you can make costly mistakes. If your skills exceed your confidence, you’ll never have the courage to take the necessary steps to begin anything.

5. No ‘How To’ Steps

At Zen Mind Body Therapies we believe that everything is a process. Learning how to do things in the most effective way for the most positive outcome possible is the key. We don’t want you to “hope” things will be better in the future, we want you to work towards “doing" better and "creating your future. No "hope" is required if you learn what processes are the most effective and discard outdated and less effective processes that may be holding you back. 6. Skills Gap

If you don’t have the skills unfortunately enthusiasm alone won’t be enough. We will help you identify and learn how and where to attain those skills for success by determining any skills gaps you may currently have and lead you to find appropriate opportunities for learning and education to fill them.

7. Trying to go it alone

It’s very difficult to do self-development all by yourself. You really cannot effectively or objectively assess your own personal situation and see where your all process gaps are. You likely won’t recognize where you might be ineffectively focusing your attention or where or how it should be redirected or reframed. That is why working closely with a qualified therapist can be very worthwhile. They can assess your situation from outside the bubble and will be able to see where there may be ineffective processes being played out and where suitable changes can be made. Even top performing Olympic athletes and successful CEOs have coaches. Having someone to walk with on the journey with you is very important if we are to grow and develop and reach our goals and become "unstuck".
