How does anxiety come about and what can be done about it?




Clients who come in with issues relating to Anxiety often have many of the following associated symptoms:

 

·      Intolerance for discomfort/frustration

·      Excessive responsibility

·      Intolerance for discomfort or frustration

·      Intolerance or fear around any form of uncertainty

·      Sleep disturbances and insomnia

·      Pain

·      Depression/Postnatal Depression

·      Addictive &/or compulsive behaviours

·      Substance abuse

·      Poor self-regulation

·      Unrealistic self-assessment of abilities

·      Boundary/trust issues/aversion to conflict

·      Poor social skills

 

We assist clients in learning how to make distinctions about:

 

·      Difference between what is probable and what is possible

·      What they can control and what they don’t or can’t

·      What is personal and what affects them personally

·      How they can determine who they can trust, and who they cannot

·      How the world should be and how it actually is

·      Thoughts that are valid, and those that aren’t

·      Which thoughts/feeling they should listen to, and which ones they should ignore

·      What is worth worrying about, and what isn’t
